What biome do penguins live in?

Penguins inhabit the tundra biome. All species live on the continents of the Southern Hemisphere and thrive in cold weather near large bodies of water.

Penguins spend most of their time swimming and searching for food in icy waters. They only reside on shore to mate and molt. All adults are multi-colored. The white belly of the animal blends in with snow and ice. This is used as a camouflage to protect against predators from above. Their dark backs blend in with the ocean to protect them against sea predators. Penguins mostly eat small fish, crustaceans and squids that inhabit the tundra.
