A bloodhound puppy is the offspring of a type of dog called a bloodhound. The bloodhound stands 23 to 27 inches tall, has a reputation as a scent tracker and hunting companion dog, and has a large and heavy stature.
Bloodhound puppies typically grow to weigh between 80 to 110 pounds as adults, with heavier and larger-framed dogs preferred by judges at AKC events. On average, they live between nine and 11 years, making them a shorter-lived dog compared to many breeds. Bloodhounds make excellent companion dogs because of their affectionate nature and long history of working with people. Bloodhound puppies belong to one of the oldest hunting breeds.
