"The Book of Enoch" is a Jewish religious work purportedly written by Enoch, the grandson of Noah. A few small Christian and Jewish groups accept "The Book of Enoch" as a canonical part of scripture, but most do not.
Research indicates that "The Book of Enoch" dates from between the third and first century B.C. It consists of several loosely related passages telling the story of Enoch within a larger apocalyptic and moral framework. It also includes a series of parables, a discussion of astronomy and an "Epistle of Enoch." Early Christians knew of "The Book of Enoch," and a small section of it is quoted in the New Testament in the "Epistle of Jude."
