Box jellyfish mostly live in the waters of the Indo-Pacific region and near the coast of northern Australia. The box jellyfish usually lives for less than a year in the wild.

The box jellyfish is highly advanced, relative to other jellyfish. It reaches 10 feet in length and 10 inches in width. This carnivorous invertebrate is known for its extremely powerful, deadly venom, which is capable of producing enough pain, even in human victims, to cause heart failure. Unlike many other animals, the sea turtle does not experience the painful, venomous effects of the box jellyfish's sting. As a result, box jellyfish regularly serve as food for the sea turtles.
