How do you brew coffee?

Brew coffee by cleaning the coffee-making equipment, purchasing fresh roasted beans, grinding the beans, adding filtered water and brewing the coffee to the right temperature for the right amount of time. This takes up to 5 minutes. You need a coffee maker, coffee beans, a coffee grinder and filtered water.
- Clean your coffee equipment
Thoroughly clean your coffee-making equipment before brewing a fresh cup.
- Purchase coffee beans
Purchase fresh roasted coffee beans as close to the brewing time as possible. You should use your coffee beans within two weeks of purchase.
- Grind the coffee beans
Grind the coffee beans right before brewing the coffee. Make sure neither to over- or under- grind the beans. Ground coffee beans that are too fine release a bitter taste, while a course grind results in a flat taste.
- Add water
Add filtered water to the coffee-making equipment. Tap water can have a strong taste that interferes with the flavor of the coffee. As a general rule of thumb, add 6 ounces of water for every 2 tablespoons of ground coffee.
- Brew the coffee
Brew the coffee anywhere from 20 seconds to 5 minutes depending on the type of coffee maker you are using. Make sure the water reaches a temperature between 195 and 205 degrees Fahrenheit for the best taste.
