As of 2016, the entry level pay for an apprentice electrician in the United States is $13.00 per hour. This amount may vary significantly depending on where the electrician works and area of specialization.

Apprentice electricians make 30 to 50 percent of what journeymen electricians make. In some areas, apprentices also receive health care and other benefits, but this is not universal throughout the United States. Apprentice electricians are also eligible for overtime pay, as well as annual bonuses through the company they work for. Some types of electricians may also earn more than others. For example, those who work for building contractors tend to make more than those that work on ships or boats.
