Shingles can reoccur in a different location on the body, according to WebMD. In fact, recurrent shingles is more likely to appear in different locations each time, though the most common areas are on the torso and the face. Shingles might appear first on the left side of the body, then appear later on the right side, for example.
Although it is impossible to completely prevent recurrent shingles, physicians recommend obtaining the vaccine for shingles, which may reduce the potential for a subsequent episode. Patients are eligible for the shingles vaccine starting at age 50, but some physicians recommend that patients wait until after their 60th birthdays.
