Can shingles reoccur on the other side of the body?

Shingles can reoccur on the other side of the body from a previous outbreak, according to WebMD. It is more common for shingles to occur in a different place from outbreak to outbreak than to reoccur in the same area twice.
In addition to frequently switching sides of the body, shingles rashes frequently occur in entirely different regions of the body from outbreak to outbreak. For example, a person who had a shingles rash on the right side of the chest might have shingles on the left side in a subsequent outbreak, or he might develop the rash on his stomach or back.
