Military vehicle surplus grows during peacetime and as the military phases out older vehicles. As of 2014, the Defense Logistics Agency Disposition Services manages defense surplus sales, with most sales held online through GovLiquidation.com and GovPlanet.com, both under federal contract by the General Services Administration. The military first used the M-151 Jeep in Vietnam and its current use spans over 100 countries. The U.S. military phased out the M-151 in favor of the Humvee during the 1990s.
