Clean a cloudy mirror with a mixture of rubbing alcohol, ammonia and liquid detergent. A cloudy mirror can also be cleaned with a soft cloth and a thin layer of shaving foam.
- Gather the cleaning materials
Measure out half a cup of rubbing alcohol, 2 tablespoons of ammonia and 1/4 teaspoon of liquid detergent. Pour these in a spray bottle or a container. Crumple a sheet of newspaper, to use for cleaning the mirror or use a soft, lint-free cloth.
- Apply the cleaning solution
Spray the cleaning solution on the cloth or dip the cloth in the cleaning solution. Wring the cloth to remove excess moisture. For large-sized mirrors, apply the solution directly on the surface of the mirror. Alternatively, a thin layer of shaving foam can be applied to the surface of the mirror to clean it.
- Clean the surface
Use a soft cloth or a crumpled newspaper to rub the mirror in a circular motion. Then clean the mirror using vertical strokes. Follow by using horizontal strokes to clean the surface. Continue to rub the surface until it is clean.
- Buff the mirror
Use a soft toothbrush or a cotton swab to remove grime from the corners of the mirror. Remove residual moisture from the surface of the mirror with a dry cloth or a newspaper.
