Can dogs eat pasta?

Dogs can eat pasta in small quantities as a type of dog treat, according to Dog Questions. WebMD points out that cooked pasta is better for a dog to eat than uncooked pasta.
Because pasta essentially consists of flour and water, possibly with some eggs or oil added, it contains nothing harmful to dogs. Any dog that has no wheat allergies should be able to eat pasta. However, pasta sauces often contain ingredients that dogs should not eat, so it's best to feed them plain cooked pasta with no sauce or spices. Whole-grain pasta is healthier for dogs than any pasta made from refined grains.
