Can dogs eat spinach?

Dogs can eat spinach. Spinach contains a number of ingredients that are beneficial to a dog's health, such as iron, fiber, calcium, potassium and vitamins A, B6 and K. Most dog foods are grain-based, so they do not contain the vitamins and minerals that dogs need.

Spinach also contains flavonoids and carotenoids. These ingredients provide anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties that help to prevent these issues in dogs, while also preventing cardiovascular issues. Studies have shown that giving spinach extract to dogs can reduce rates of skin cancer. It is best to feed dogs spinach or other fruits and vegetables that are organically grown to prevent the consumption of waxes or dyes that are sometimes found on or in genetically engineered options.
