What can you do with empty 2-liter bottles?

Make a bird feeder or a fly trap out of an empty 2-liter bottle. Each project requires basic materials found around the house, such as scissors, string and a hole punch.

To make a bird feeder, screw a hook into the cap and cut holes in the bottle large enough to fit sticks or twigs as perches. Cut feeding ports 1-2 inches above each perch. Use string to hang the feeder by the hook.

For a fly trap, cut the bottle in half horizontally, place bait in the bottom, and invert the top over the bottom. Punch holes in the bottle and hang it using string.
