Eye melanoma often occurs in parts of the eye that are usually not readily visible, and it typically does not cause early symptoms, making the tumor difficult to detect, Mayo Clinic explains. While treatment for a small eye melanoma may leave vision intact, treating large eye melanomas usually results in some degree of vision loss.
