Can I give my dog a steak bone?

Dogs should be fed only raw large bones or raw easily breakable and digestible bones such as poultry bones. Bones such as steak bones are often cut and are thus more likely to splinter and cause a dangerous obstruction.
The two types of bones that are safe for dogs are classified as edible bones and recreational bones. Edible bones are usually the wings and necks of birds. Recreational bones are usually large femur or hip bones from cattle or bison. Cooked bones and cut bones should never be fed to dogs. Bones from chops are almost always cut from a larger piece.
