Asurion provides Verizon Wireless cell phone insurance plans. Customers must implement cell phone insurance packages through Verizon within the first 30 days of ownership. Verizon offers some open enrollment periods for phones that are beyond the 30-day enrollment period.

Cell phone insurance covers the cost of replacing a phone after the warranty period has expired. Insured customers can file claims for many cell phone issues, including damage to their devices.

It is not necessary to have a working phone to complete a warranty claim. Asurion accepts claims online and via phone. Only an account holder or an authorized user may initiate the claims process.
