Can you get a paternity test while pregnant?

Noninvasive blood tests are available to determine a child?s paternity as early as the eighth or ninth week of pregnancy, explains the New York Times. The tests require a blood sample from the mother and also at least one of the potential fathers.
Noninvasive tests do not have the risk of miscarriage associated with previous types of invasive tests. They test fragments of the baby's DNA in the mother's blood. Some men are more willing to provide emotional and financial support during the pregnancy if the test indicates they are the father, according to the New York Times. In Florida, infant mortality is higher among babies without the father?s name on the birth certificate.
