Can you use bleach to kill weeds in a driveway?

Bleach kills weeds and other plants wherever it is sprayed; however, a driveway is one of the few safe places to use it as a weed killer. Pouring some undiluted bleach along the line of weeds in the middle of a driveway kills them within several days.
It is not helpful to pour bleach in areas where it can contact other plants because the bleach elevates the pH and sodium levels of the soil, which hinders the growth of other plants in the same area. Bleach is sodium hypochlorite, and its pH is around 11 (a neutral pH is 7). Vinegar is a more effective household chemical that kills weeds that are in close contact with other plants.
