Canon's Powershot 600, the first of many cameras in Canon's Powershot line of products, was released in 1996. Since 1996, the Powershot series has been very profitable for Canon, and is one of the world's best selling digital camera series.
The Powershot 600 was Canon's first consumer quality digital camera, and was originally released with a 0.5 megapixel charge-coupled device. The Powershot 600 is now discontinued.
The Powershot label has grown to include many devices, including those in the A series, the D series and the G series. The G series of cameras are Canon's flagship devices and include advanced features.
