The city of Sanaa is the capital city of Yemen, officially known as the Republic of Yemen. It is an Arabic speaking country located in Southwest Asia.
Yemen occupies 203,850 square miles. It is bordered on the north by Saudi Arabia, on the west by the Red Sea, on the east by Oman, and on the south by The Arabian Sea and The Gulf of Aden. A few of the Red Sea islands belong to Yemen, including Perim and Kamaran. In 1999, President Ali Abdullah Saleh became the first president elected in reunified Yemen and was re-elected in 2006. He had been president of unified Yemen beginning in 1990 and president of North Yemen beginning in 1978.
