Where do chameleons live in the wild?
By Forinfos - 05/01/2026 - 0 comments
Chameleons live in a variety of habitats and countries, including Africa, the Middle East and islands in the Indian Ocean. The Indian chameleon lives in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, while another species is native to Spain, Portugal, the islands of the Mediterranean and Eastern Asia.
Chameleons may live in rainforests, on mountains, in lowlands, in deserts, semi-deserts and on the scrub savannas. One species living in the deserts of Africa burrows into the sand dunes for protection from the extreme weather, while another species lives in cool mountain forests. All species of chameleon are native to Europe, Africa and Asia, though they have been imported to other countries.
