Do chihuahuas shed?

Chihuahuas, just like most other dog breeds, shed hair all year round and may shed more in the spring or fall. Because of its small size, the shedding may not be as apparent as that of larger dog breeds.
Chihuahuas have either single-layer or double-layer coat types. A single-layered Chihuahua may shed less. It grows long, billowing hair that, unlike other long-haired breeds, requires minimum trimming and grooming. Those with smooth and short undercoats shed heavily in spring and fall. Their smooth hair that sits directly on top of their skin makes them appear as if they have no fur at all, especially if the Chihuahua has a brown coat.
