How do you clean cement off of bricks?

To clean cement off of bricks, wipe it with a wet sponge, apply muriatic acid, chisel off the cement, and apply sealant. The supplies you need for this one-hour process are rubber gloves, protective clothing, water, buckets, a sponge, muriatic acid, a chisel, an abrasive pad, masonry sealer and paintbrushes.

1. Wipe the bricks with a wet sponge

   Put on long rubber gloves, soak a sponge in water, and wipe the cement.

2. Apply diluted muriatic acid

   Put on safety goggles, long pants and a long-sleeved shirt. In a large bucket, combine 9 parts water and 1 part muriatic acid. Add the water first, and then gently pour in the acid. Fill another bucket with water, and set both buckets next to your work area. Use an acid-resistant brush to paint the acid solution over the cement deposits. Leave it on for the amount of time indicated on the bottle of acid, then rinse liberally with water.

3. Chisel off the cement

   Scrape the cement with a chisel, and scrub it with an abrasive pad. If some of the cement remains on the brick, apply more acid, and repeat the removal process. Large, thick cement deposits usually require multiple attempts.

4. Seal the brick

   Protect the brick and camouflage acid marks with a coat of masonry sealant.
