Dallas, Texas, is located in Dallas County. The city of Dallas is located in the northern central part of the state of Texas. Dallas is in the Central Time Zone.

Dallas was founded in 1841 by a lawyer, originally from Tennessee, named John Neely Bryan. He accidentally wandered upon the land on which modern Dallas is located and was so impressed that he returned to found a new town.

The city of Dallas is home to five professional sports teams: the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Stars, Dallas Mavericks, FC Dallas and Texas Rangers. Dallas is the birthplace of multiple inventions, including the frozen margarita machine and the integrated-circuit computer chip, later known as the microchip.
