Where does a cow live?

Cows are domesticated bovine animals; the vast majority of them live on farms. Cows are mature female cattle. A rare type of wild cattle live in the Chillingham Castle park in the English county of Northumberland.

The privately owned herd of cattle at Chillingham Castle numbered 100, as of December 2012. The wild cattle have lived in the enclosure for several centuries. Generally, cows are from an African, European or Indian species of domesticated cattle. Before a cow matures, it is known as a heifer calf, then a heifer. Male cattle are bulls; if castrated, the mature male cattle is first a steer, then an ox.
