Where does a coyote live?

Coyotes range throughout North and Central America. They live in hollow logs, brush piles and burrows. They dig their own burrows or sometimes take over other animals' burrows.

Also known as brush wolves and prairie wolves, coyotes are extremely adaptable predators that live in a wide variety of natural habitats and in suburban and urban areas. They are usually timid around people but kill sheep, goats, chickens, pigs and calves as well as domestic dogs and cats. Their natural prey consists of rodents, rabbits, hares, mice, birds, snakes and large insects. Gray wolves and mountain lions are the coyotes' natural enemies.
