Where did the Hopi tribes live?

The Hopi people have traditionally lived in northwestern Arizona, which is still the site of their reservation as of 2014. They are a sub-tribe of the Pueblo Indians, who live primarily in 12 villages located on the tops of three separate mesas.

The Hopi and their neighbors, the Navajo, have long had disputes over land. This continued after the creation of reservations by the U.S. government. Initially the Navajo and Hopi were given one reservation, but after much conflict, it was divided. There is still dispute over Black Mountain, which is on the Hopi reservation but is home to a number of Navajos. The Hopi reservation is found in Coconino and Navajo counties in Arizona.
