Hurricane Camille made landfall in Louisiana and moved into Alabama and Mississippi on Aug. 17, 1969. Camille continued on a north-northwest track into Tennessee before making a turn toward the east.

Hurricane Camille continued east and exited the United States through Virginia, and it caused an estimated $1.5 billion in damages. Several locations received more than 25 inches of rainfall. Hurricane Camille was born off the coast of Africa and turned into a tropical depression four days later.
