Why did Kerry Kennedy and Andrew Cuomo get divorced?

Kerry Kennedy decided to divorce Andrew Cuomo because she felt alienated by his near-exclusive devotion to his work, as reported in Vanity Fair. She also felt their marriage had been strained by the burdens of childcare and not spending time with their families for additional support. The couple originally discussed divorce in 2001 but Kennedy waited until after Cuomo's campaign for New York governorship had ended in September 2002.

Earlier in their marriage, Kennedy had found fault with Cuomo's fastidiousness, Vanity Fair reported. Specifically, she considered his habit of covering furniture with plastic and refusing to use the oven for fear of getting it dirty irritating.
