Ann Curry has been married since October 21, 1989, to software executive Brian Ross, and they are still married as of 2015. The pair met while attending college at the University of Oregon, where Curry studied journalism.

Born in Guam, Curry is the daughter of Bob Curry and Hiroe Nagase, who is Japanese. Curry's parents met when her father was stationed in Japan following World War II. Curry is the eldest of five children and was raised as a Catholic.

Curry and Ross have two grown children, McKenzie and William Walker. As a teen, McKenzie Ross was active in charity work and played volleyball. She also participated in a charity fashion show for Teen Vogue.
