What is a dwarf gardenia?

The dwarf gardenia is a flowering perennial plant that can grow up to 2 feet high and 3 feet wide when it is mature. It produces very fragrant flowers in June and July.
Dwarf gardenias thrive in warm climates and acidic soils. They grow very dense, strong root systems that help them survive periods of drought. The root systems can spread over 6 feet wide, so be sure to plant the dwarf gardenias at least 2 to 3 feet apart.
The dwarf gardenia requires very little pruning aside from removing dead or diseased limbs, branches or flowers. However, the plant can be pruned as often as desired in order to achieve the ideal shape and size.
