What are dwarf spirea plants?

Dwarf spirea plants are shrubs that form spreading mounds that flower in summer and early fall. The color of the foliage and the flowers depends on the variety. The flowers range from pink, white and red, and the foliage is colorful all year round and changes in autumn.
All dwarf spirea are deciduous in nature and have a leafless dormancy period. They do well in well-drained garden soil. They do better planted in full sun or partial shade. They can be planted on a slope to act as an embankment due to their spreading nature. The snowmound variety, which produces white flowers, is famous for the old-fashioned bridal wreath spirea.
