The Bass Tracker fishing boat was first released in 1978. The boat was sold as a motor and trailer package that included a custom trailer, onboard fish finder and a trolling and power-matched outboard motor. The Bass Tracker was the first fish-ready bass boat and was introduced by Johnny Morris.

The Bass Tracker made use of a hull design that was different than those used by other boats at the time. The boat is manufactured by the Tracker Marine Group, which has production plants in three states and is headquartered in Springfield, Missouri. The Tracker Marine Group has sold over 750,000 boats since the Bass Tracker was first introduced.
