The Range Rover vehicle was first introduced in 1970. The car was made by the Rover Company in the United Kingdom. The first generation Range Rover went out of production in 1996.
Rover built the first Range Rover in late 1969 and registered it on January 2, 1970. That original vehicle went up for auction in 2014. The first Range Rover had the Rover Company's trademark boxy shape, which it has to this day.
The company introduced a second generation Range Rover in 1995. A third generation Range Rover hit the market in 2002, under the ownership of BMW. The 2015 Range Rover is manufactured by Jaguar Land Rover.
