Flounders are born with an eye on either side of their body, but as they grow up, one eye migrates to the other side. Flatfish have the ability to either be "right-eyed" or "left-eyed." The majority of flounder caught for commercial use are "right-eyed." Yellowtail flounder are typically caught off the Atlantic coast.
