Who is the current Chinese President?

Xi Jinping is president of China and chief of the nation's Communist Party, as of 2014. The BBC reports that he is expected to lead the world's second-largest economy for the next 10 years.

Xi has vowed to crack down on corruption and has urged the country to achieve the "China Dream," which he links to a Chinese renaissance in which the country "can take its rightful place in the world," the BBC reports.

Xi was born in Beijing in 1953, the son of revolutionary veteran Xi Zhongxun, a founding father of China's Communist Party. The senior Xi was expelled from his post of vice-premier in 1962 before the Cultural Revolution and eventually was imprisoned.
