The legislative branch of the United States government has two leaders: the speaker of the House heads the House of Representatives, and the vice president controls the Senate. The House of Representative has 435 members and the Senate has 100 members, along with the vice president.
The House and Senate exist as two separate bodies of government with distinct roles, but also form the unified body of Congress. Congress has power to draft legislation and decides to engage the U.S. in war. The speaker of the House, like others in the House, must be at least 25 years old and a citizen of the United States. The vice president must be at least 30 years old and a resident of the U.S. as well.
