As a grain, quinoa is not considered part of the paleo diet. The paleo diet is a low-carb diet that advocates the consumption of meat, poultry, fish, fruits and vegetables.
The paleo diet is based on humans' diet during the Paleolithic period of more than 10,000 years ago. In this age, people ate by hunting and gathering the fresh food around them. This food consisted of wild animals and vegetable crops. In this time, people did not eat grains or processed foods, so quinoa would not have been a staple of the Paleolithic diet. The paleo diet also discourages consumption of dairy, refined sugar and legumes.
