The Chinese plum tree is a fruit-bearing tree that is native to Korea and China. It is also called the Japanese apricot, ume plot and flowering apricot.
The Chinese plum tree can be found in such regions that include mountains and forest slopes. The fruit from the tree is pickled and used to create umeboshi in Japanese cuisine. The juices are also used to make sauces, liquor and medicine in Asian culture. The fruit fully matures in the early Asian summer. Although the tree is called a plum tree, it is more closely aligned with apricots. The tree blossoms in the late winter and spring, and the colors include pink, red and white. The tree can grow anywhere from 13 to 33 feet tall.
