Where do mint leaves come from?

Mint leaves come from perennial herbaceous plant that grow all over the world. They flourish in cool and moist environments but will grow nearly anywhere because they tolerate a wide range of conditions. Mint leaves grow in a variety of colors from dark green to blue, purple and pale yellow.

The most popular mints are peppermint, apple mint and spearmint. Harvesting of mint leaves can be done at any time of year. Freshly harvested leaves should be used immediately or frozen or refrigerated in plastic bags for a few days. Alternatively, they can be dried for longer shelf life and stored in airtight containers kept in a cool, dark and dry place.
