Howard Goodman's funeral was held on December 3, 2002. The service took place at the Christ Church located in Nashville, Tenn.

Goodman died at the age of 81 on November 30, 2002. He suffered from poor health for several months before he died. Goodman was survived by his wife and two children, a son and a daughter. He also has six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Howard Goodman was a popular signer and much of the service included songs performed by friends and family members that honored the late musician. He was laid to rest on the grounds of the church that held the funeral.
