Is there an income limit after which someone is not eligible for food stamps?

There is an income limit that determines eligibility for food stamps which is broken down by family size. A family of four must have a gross monthly income of $2,628, as of 2015. If all family members receive TANF or SSI, they do not have to meet the income level.

Applicants also have limitations on countable resources, such as a bank account or savings account and goods that can be sold. Generally, a person's home is not considered a countable resource but in some states a vehicle is. If at least one person in a household is age 60 or older or disabled, the maximum value of countable resources permitted for food stamps eligibility increases.
