Where do jewel beetles live?

According to Encyclopædia Britannica, jewel beetles, also called metallic wood-boring beetles, mostly live in tropical environments. These brilliantly colored beetles feature long, narrow and flat body shapes. Some species' wing covers come in iridescent shades of green, copper and blue. Black is also a possible color.
Jewel beetles were used as living jewelry in the Victorian Era. In species with dark, dull wing covers, the iridescent body of the jewel beetle is usually unseen unless the insect is flying or in a supinated position. This quick-change ability may confuse predators who are in pursuit of the jewel beetle. Jewel beetle larvae bore through wood and other vegetation.
