What is "Kill Haole Day"?

In Hawaii, "Kill Haole Day" is the last day of school in Hawaii when native Hawaiian children allegedly beat up haole, or Caucasian, children. There is no evidence this actually happens, and it is likely an urban legend.
While most Hawaiians believe in the spirit of aloha, or friendship, some natives see the white mainlanders as invaders. The Southern Poverty Law Center and the civil rights division of the U.S. Department of Education have both investigated and certified multiple cases of racism directed against whites from Hawaiians. "Kill Haole Day" may exist only as a bad joke, but it is certain that the racial strife it describes does exist in the Aloha State.
