Ovalbumin, ovotransferrin, ovomucoid, ovomucin and lysozyme are all proteins found in eggs. Ovalbumin makes up the majority of the protein content in an egg.
Eggs are one of the leading food sources for protein. A single egg can supply 13 percent of the daily amount of protein needed. Proteins allow the body to stay full and energized for an extended period of time. The energy that the protein supplies does not cause the usual sugar crash associated with many foods. It allows the body to maintain normal blood sugar levels. The protein also helps build and maintain muscle mass. In addition, eggs can combat muscle loss.
