How large is Alaska relative to the USA on a map?

When superimposed on a map, Alaska and its islands are as wide as the lower 48 states and is larger than the states of Montana, Texas and California combined. Alaska is the largest state in the United States by area. It has a total area of 663,268 square miles, a length of 1,420 miles and a width of 2,261 miles.
If Alaska was placed atop the lower 48 states on a map, its easternmost point would touch Jacksonville, Florida, while its westernmost point would reach San Francisco, California. It would cover much of Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri and Kansas. Alaska is larger than the combined area of the 22 smallest U.S. states and is more than twice the size of the second largest state: Texas.
