Tigers are the largest big cats, and Siberian, or Amur, tigers are the largest tigers. Male Siberians grow to be almost 11 feet long and weigh about 660 pounds. After making a kill, a hungry tiger eats up to 60 pounds.

Amur tigers are considered an endangered species. Most of the 400 to 500 Siberians remaining as of 2014 live in the forests of eastern Russia. A small number also inhabit China and North Korea. Siberian tigers are very light orange and have few stripes. This coloration allows them to blend in with their snowy habitat. Compared to other tigers, Siberians have thicker fur and a heavier layer of fat, both of which help protect them from the cold.
