What is the lifespan of an ape?
By Forinfos - 28/03/2025 - 0 comments
Apes generally live for 40 to 50 years, with apes experiencing a slightly longer lifespan in captivity. The exact lifespan for an ape varies somewhat based on the species in question, of which there are a total of six.
As part of the primate family, apes experience similar stages of development to humans. An infant ape is wholly reliant on its mother until the age of 5, when the baby enters the juvenile stage of development. The ape's adolescence generally begins around the age of 8, and sexual maturity is reached at the age of 16. From that point, apes are considered fully grown adults. Most apes pass away in their 50s.
