How many eggs can a bed bug lay in its lifetime?

A female bed bug can lay from 300 to 500 eggs in her lifetime. The eggs take about two weeks to hatch and can be laid one at a time or in clusters of 50. Up to three generations of bed bugs can be born each year.

A single bed bug is roughly the size of two grains of salt. The female bed bugs hides eggs in tight crevices and cracks. They are coated with a sticky substance to help them attach to rough surfaces. Once a bed bug nymph emerges from its egg, it must consume a blood meal in order to molt. The nymph must molt five times to become an adult.
