An AOL Health poll conducted in 2009 revealed that 31 percent of Americans do not shower every day. The study showed that 65 percent of Americans shower or bathe every day, while 4 percent shower more than once every day.
According to the poll, as reported by the Houston Chronicle, 21 percent of Americans shower every two days, leaving the percentage of Americans who shower or bathe even less frequently at a mere 10 percent. The poll had over 20,000 respondents. The advancements in personal hygiene have been particularly important in curbing infections and subsequent deaths, with fewer than 4 percent of deaths being caused by infection by the dawn of the 21st century.
